THE ST IPPOLYTS BOWLER

Welcome to a new season of bowling, it was good to see so many of you at last month's pre-season gathering. Here's looking forward to another good season.

VICARS CUP

Our first match on home soil, the Vicar's Cup, in cold and very blustery conditions was won by Colin Davidson, with Ted Pay picking up the wooden spoon - congratulations to both!

NEW MEMBERS

So far, this year five new members have joined the club. A warm welcome goes to Carol Davis, Shirley Hughes, Pat Newbury, Lynne Stewart and Ken Vintner.

TEA/CLEANING ROTAS

There's a lot of vacant spaces on the Rotas. If you have not already done so, would you kindly put your name on the lists when you next visit the Clubhouse. Thank you to those members who have already committed to the rotas.

CASINO NIGHT

Tony will be running another Casino night on Saturday 18th May, cost of fish & chip supper is £6.50, payable on the night.

BONUS BALL

If you have not paid your stakes due in April, please arrange to

settle up with Celia as soon as possible. Next stakes are due 29th June.

FIRE SAFETY

We passed a recent inspection by the fire brigade. They praised us for the procedures we have in place and for our good housekeeping.

However, a reminder to all that the fire exit doors in the kitchen area are to remain unlocked whilst the clubhouse is occupied.

MATCHDAY RAFFLE

Raffle tickets now cost £1 per strip. Remember, we are always after prize donations.

HAMPER RAFFLE

Turfcare Leisure have again kindly donated a hamper.

Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the season.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP

The directory of club members is being finalised. We still await confirmation of renewal of membership from a few people, once this is received the new directory will be released.

LETCHWORTH & DISTRICT COMPETITIONS

Despite submitting the Competition Entry form listing our requirements, due to an administrative error L&D have entered us only one team for each of their competitions. This discrepancy only came to light after publication of the L&D Handbook, and with the draws having already taken place it is too late to rectify the situation. Apologies to players affected, you will, of course, receive an appropriate refund of fees paid.

AWAY DAYS

Thanks to a generous contribution by Peggy Hall, you will be pleased to learn the cost per head of our away day by coach to Sheringham on 25th May has been reduced considerably.

On 11th August we visit Swaffham.

Peggy Hall

Finally, it was with much sadness that we learnt of the passing of Peggy Hall on the evening of 29th April at the Letchworth Garden House Hospice. As a long-standing member and supporter of the club, Peggy will be sorely missed. We await details of the funeral arrangements.
