October 2021

THE ST IPPOLYTS BOWLER Welcome to the final newsletter of the year.

Highlights of the Season

It was a very good season for the Club, we retained the SML Knockout Trophy, winning it for the third time in a row and the men were runners-up in the Cairns Cup.

We came second in the SML, losing out on the title by just one point.

The men won the Men's County League and the ladies were runners up in their league, as a result both teams participated to the North Division semi-finals/finals day at Royston, but sadly they did not make it to the County Finals at Garston.

Congratulations go to Celia Farley and Shirley Hughes on progressing as far as the finals in the North Herts Ladies pairs competition.

Back in June Kevin, Paul, Jeff & Colin were presented with certificates for achieving a 'hot shot' during a men's county match the previous month and it was featured in Bowls World magazine.

The Club hosted the annual L&D v NHWBA match in August. A big thank you to all who helped on the day.

A big thank you to Jeff for organising the Club Competitions and Finals Weekend. A great weekend was had by all, with many different players winning the trophies. We had an excellent buffet thanks to the generosity of our members.

The men were victorious in the Ladies v Gents for the first time in many years.

Thanks are also extended to Trevor, Tony & Brian Impey for the excellent barbecues after the Triples Day and President v Captains match.

Sheets are posted in the Clubhouse. Competition entry deadline for Herts Bowls has been extended to 31st December and the L&D deadline is end of January.
